Reset DNN host password

From this "how to reset dnn user password" article we mentioned how to reset user password from a SQL store procedure. Here’s another method we’ll share to people who have trouble with password management.

Download this file

unzip it and upload to your dnn website root,  then browse to it, you will have the option to create another super user, once created you just login with this new super user and change the default user password. Done

Reset DotNetNuke Login password

There’re many ways to reset DNN user password. As for SQL query, you can run the following on your database:

create procedure [dbo].[uap_ResetPassword]
@UserName NVarChar(255),
@NewPassword NVarChar(255)
Declare @PasswordSalt NVarChar(128)
Declare @ApplicationID NVarChar(255)
Declare @ApplicationName NVarChar(255)
Set @ApplicationID = (SELECT [ApplicationID] FROM aspnet_Users WHERE
Set @ApplicationName = (SELECT [ApplicationName] FROM aspnet_Applications WHERE
Set @PasswordSalt = (SELECT PasswordSalt FROM aspnet_Membership WHERE UserID IN (SELECT UserID FROM aspnet_Users WHERE
select @ApplicationID, @ApplicationName
declare @RetVal as int
Exec @RetVal = dbo.aspnet_Membership_ResetPassword @ApplicationName, @UserName, @NewPassword, 10, 10, @PasswordSalt, -5
return @RetVal

The most simple way is this one:

If you know another site user login id/password let’s say user1. you can connect to your dnn database > open the user table > edit the user1 and check the box ‘is superuser?‘ and save to exit. Now you have superuser privileges on user1 this id, you just login to the dnn site and reset other user password.
