Install Joomla with latest version Mysql

When I install joomla with latest version mysql database I get the following error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘TYPE=MyISAM CHARACTER SET `utf8`’ at line…

This is because there’s some change with the new version mysql which has replaced TYPE with ENGINE. In order to get it working, we need to edit the mysql file in joomla pack:

1. installation\sql\mysql\joomla.sql
2. installation\sql\mysql\joomla_backword.sql

Then go ahead to install joomla again, it will be working.

Joomla Installation issue

The Joomla installation is pretty straight. However you might need to double check before you go through the installation steps. First is the permission, make sure you granted 755 (or "RWD" for "network" user on IIS server) and propagated to all sub folders/files, Make sure you do not change anything to the configuration file. the installation will configure for you automatically. If you manually rename the configuration.php-dist to configuration.php then you might get this error while trying to install the sample data:

error the xml response that was returned from the server is invalid.

For this error, you just rename the configuration file back or simply delete it then run it again and it will be working.
